Photo Number 679

This is another photo from the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.

Peterson Photo Studio Denver CO DL Antiques

This one is stamped on the back.  Peterson Photo Studio Denver Colorado.  It looks like a high school graduation photo to me from sometime in the 1940’s.  This photo is 2 1/2 inches by 3 3/4 inches.  The photo has a wonderful sepia tone and it has tiny scallops all around the edge of the photo.

I wore my hair very similar to this in the 1950’s.  My Mom would set my hair on those pink spongy rollers all day long..or sometimes overnight:)

Photo Number 545

This is another Graduation Photo.  I purchased this one at the Antique Shop in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Alice Casselton ND DL Antiques This is Alice.  Apparently she graduated from Casselton, North Dakota.  I will guess that this photo was taken sometime in the late 1930’s or early 1940’s.  I could find no mention of the photo studio.

Photo Number 544

JJ clas of 1935 PR Antiques

This is J J Sirotnik, he graduated in 1935.  This photo is from the antique shop in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

He was very handsome, look at how tight that tie is and how it is “puffed out” of that suit coat. I am not sure what the label off to the side means..his last name starts with an S?

Photo Number 543

Evelyn 1931 Motley Ice cream Shop
This graduation photo is from Sincerely, Evelyn ‘31.  The photographer was Abrams Studio in Yakima, WN. ( I never knew that the abbreviation for Washington was WN..I always thought it was WA. )
Anyway, Evelyn looks very smart in her dark glasses.
This photograph shows lots of silvering. The silver in the photographic process has come to the surface of the photo and can be very reflective. It seems to be very noticeable in photographs in the 1920’s and the 1930’s.

Update: I found this in my files it is the back of Evelyn’s Photo.
Evelyn 1931 back of photo Apparently these are the people that received Evelyn’s photograph.  Mr and Mrs Albert Motl or Moll or ??

Update from Iggy:

Based on another photograph showing the class of Holy Rosary in Yakima, Washington - I think this is Evelyn Rabie. There is a direct link to/from Yakima to Minnesota - the Northern Pacific Railrad - and many immigrants moved from MN to WA (or WN) "back in the day".

Photo Number 542

This week we will look at some old graduation photos.  It is that time of year.  Here in Minnesota when a young man or woman graduates from high school, there is a open house with lots of food.  Neighbors and relatives come and go all afternoon or evening, you hope that they are not all bunched up on the same day..because the food is usually awesome!
Lotza Love Bob WHS PR Antiques This is Bob, he signed his photo Lotza Love, Bob.   Zintsmaster of Minneapolis was the photographer.  He was in Minneapolis in 1920.   WHS..right away I thought of Wayzata High School, because that is a ritzy area near the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Photo Number 308

Grad card Lake park Antiques

This must be a graduation photograph, from OHS, 07.  Some High School that starts with a O  in 1907.  The photography studio is penciled in ..Tamrath ??..that gave me no clues of a location.  This photograph is in a very long presentation card, I have cropped part of it out.

Photo Number 253

Sincerely Betty.  She must have graduated in the class of 1943.  I wondered from where??  Possibly from Hibbing , Minnesota as a photographer by the name of Campbell had a studio there in 1942 and 1943.  I searched for a class list from 1943 ..I couldn't find any.  This photo is in a lovely art deco type folder. She is a beautiful young lady.

November  22, 2010 Update: Iggy found a photo of a lady named Betty who could be "our" Betty.  I have sent her son Douglas a copy of this blog post and a letter..we will see what develops..Thanks Iggy:)

Photo Number 211

It is that time of year for Graduation!  I believe this is a photo from the 1950's or early 1960's.  The only reason I say that is because one of the gals on the left has one of those collapsible Polaroid Land Cameras.  I wore the same kind of blue/gray gown with the hat with the point in the front when I graduated from High School in 1969.  The heavy old gowns were kept in the old Civil Defense Shelter in the basement of the High School..they smelled of mothballs. We had to be fitted for our gowns and then take them home to press them.

Seventeen kids..I wonder if this is the entire class or just a small group of friends.

Photo Number Three

What I know:  Her name is Lucille Davison, her parents were probably Bertha and Floyd.  The photography studio was Barney - St Croix Falls.( Possibly St Croix Falls, Wisconsin)

Is this a graduation photo?  How about ..the late 1940's?  I love the dress..or blouse?  The big lacing up effect ending in a huge bow.  Do you think she is a redhead?   Far Guy said "She could still be alive."  Yes, she could !  Wouldn't it be great if someone began to claim these photos..I can only hope:)
